Hello Olympia Chapter
Olympia Abate Chapter Member Rick Courtney Went down on
his bike Sunday the 4th On Old Hwy 99.
He left the road and hit a tree. He was air lifted to Harborview Hospital and was in the ICU. He has been a Olympia member since 2006 and has been to many of our events. He is 46 and is married to Susan and they live with their children. Rick has many injuries but, so far he is beating this situation. However they are keeping him in a drugged state so he can heal and has had several surgeries to fix broken bones, lacerated liver and spleen, broken pelvis and more but for right now there is nothing we can do but, wait to see how he does. Going up there to see him is ok and there are no limits but, remember that he is asleep to heal and there is nothing you can do. He is in surgery a lot and not very good company right now. The family is doing great with everything. However, Susan says she is getting called by so many family and friends that it is hard for her to do stuff. So Stick has a forum on the link below that she is updating to help with the phone traffic. She has sprint and is out of minutes to talk to non sprint numbers. So if you could check the DOA site and read the blogs that would really help. Susan is just trying to focus on being his voice for his care and she knows she has so many friends out there and will call if she needs anything. Thank you all so much from her. Yes he is really banged up but he is doing good. It will be awhile to heal and get better and find out the extent of his injury's but Susan and the doctors are feeling really positive. We may have some fundraisers coming up so keep watch for them. Rick "Two Tone"

Hey everyone, Here is a update on Rick Courtney.
I went up last night to see Susan and right now there
is nothing we can do but, wait to see how he does. Going up there to see him is ok and there are no limits but, remember that he is asleep to heal and there is nothing you can do. It is hard for Susan because she is getting called by so many family and friends that it is hard for her to do stuff. So Stick has a forum on the link below that she is updating to help with the phone traffic. She has sprint and is out of minutes to talk to non sprint numbers. So if you could check the DOA site and read the blogs that would really help. He has surgery today that will take all day and then recovery. So no big answers until tomorrow. Susan is just trying to focus on being his voice for his care and she knows she has so many friends out there and will call if she needs anything. Thank you all from her. Yes he is really banged up but he is doing good. It will be awhile to heal and get better and find out the extent of his injury's but Susan and the doctors are feeling really positive.
Thanks Darcy and see you at the meeting tomorrow.

On Wednesday, November 14,one of Tennessee’s most respected Freedom Fighters, Michael L. Hays (Twanger), died at his home in Nolensville of a heart attack. Mike was born in Pulaski, TN on June 17, 1955 to Harold Dean Hughes and Doris Ellen Baker Hughes Hays, who have both preceded him in death, as well as his respected step-father, Freeman C. Hays, M.D.
An avid motorcyclist, he was the State Legislative Corporate Director for CMT/ABATE, the state-wide motorcyclists rights organization, as well as that organization’s lobbyist. He was also a member of the Motorcycle Riders Foundation in Washington, DC, and recently lobbied on their behalf in the US Congress. Mr. Hays was also the sole proprietor his agency, Midsouth Talent & Booking. Prior to living in Nashville, Mike had been a radio announcer in Orange, VA, toured with his band, Mike Hays and the Haybailers, and prior to that had spent many years selling specialty audio equipment. Michael entered the US Navy in 1974, served honorably, and at the time of his discharge 1978 was a member of the Admiral’s band as singer and saxophonist.
Mike is survived by his immediate family: one brother; Paul M Hays (Cindy), Washington, DC and three sisters; Barbara Thomas (Cam), Underwood, WA, Pamela Johnson (Shannon), Elizabethton, TN, and Patricia Ruth Emory (Jimmy), Richmond, VA. Also surviving are his daughter, Michelle Diana Williams (Indianapolis, IN), two granddaughters Savannah & Taylor, and grandson Bishop. Mike will also be deeply missed by his life partner, Carol Simpson of Nolensville, her three children and six grandchildren, and additionally, by a true army of Brother & Sister Freedom Fighters and many of his friends in the music industry.
Visitation will be Monday, Nov 19,from 3pm to 5:45pm at Woodbine Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road. The funeral service will be held at the same location beginning at 6pm. A buffet remembrance reception , hosted by brother Paul will be held at Mike and Carol’s home immediately following the service.
On Tuesday, Nov 20 a procession led by the
Patriot Guard will take Mike’s remains from Hickory Chapel
Mike Hays was a man of faith, and had been close to the Methodist Church throughout his lifetime.
Special memorials may be made to CMT/ABATE,

Below is the Letter to Editor of: (BFB)
From LLISMEL@aol.com
I'm not sure who I need to contact or speak to about this. I was involved in a very bad accident on August 12,2007 in Wickenburg AZ on Yarnell Hill. I was critically injured & my boy friend Scott Anderson, who I was riding with died. I'd like to add him on your page if possible & also if I can get help it would be extremely appreciated. I was able to just recently go back to work.
My leg was broken in 4 places
I was in car sales, But for now I have to make do as the receptionist which doesn't pay the bills to well. I'm told until I'm 100% & released from my doctors care I'm a liability! I've enclosed a picture of Scott Anderson. Thank you again for all your help "May you ride with Gods, For your good deeds in life!" Dragoni of (BFB) Posted By Dragoni 01/08/08 |

time and talking. He suffered a brain aneurism and never regained
consciousness.
I was told by William that there
will be a memorial service for him in Carrollton on Friday February 2nd
2007. I will forward the details as I hear them.

Gypsy was seriously injured in
an accident with a car loader on Friday in Lakewood.. He has undergone 2
surgeries since then. The bone in his right leg was broken and went
through to the outside. They pinned his leg and did surgery, then went
back in and took the pins out and placed a plate in to stabilize his
leg. He has a weak pulse in the leg. They took a skin graph from his
left thigh to close the surgery on his right shin. They are doing all
they can to try to save his leg. He is in St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma.
The address there is 1717 South J St. The telephone number is 253
426-6758. Gypsy pretty much does not have any family. He does have a
son, but so far I have not been able to contact him. He will have
to be near the hospital/doctor's upon his release. I am looking for
someone who might be able to help him out in that manner during his
recovery. He has to be very careful of infection. If he leaves the
hospital with his leg, infection could cause him to have to have it
removed. He is known by many many of you people and I am sure there is
someone out there that could step up to the plate. My home is his
secondary home, but I am 1 1/2 hours away from his medical needs,
therefore my home is not an option at this time for him. In addition to
a temporary home, he will need someone to help him set up doctor.
appointments and Para transit rides to and from.
Lewis Country has graciously offered to
handle getting his bike from impound. For more Information about Gypsy's Condition Contact: Pam King
You can reach her at 360 532-4010. If you
get the machine her cell # is 360 580-9251
If you can help- Great! We are in the process of setting up an bank
account so you could make donations to Gypsy, direct. Information sent to (BFB) By: Rich Bright Confirmed & Posted By: Dragoni 09/04/2006

Bernd "Sig" Wachter
(May 4, 1960 - April 15, 2006) |

Throughout Sig’s life, he acquired a larger family. People were attracted to Sig’s big heart and fun loving personality. He surrounded himself with people that didn’t need to put on an act, people that would be themselves and speak their minds. This was one of the rules that he lived by and is why his family grew to be so large. Sig had an outstanding work ethic and excelled at everything that he did. He had many passions in life his favorite being his “shovel head” Harley Davidson that he rode cross country and seemed to always be tuning or replacing parts on. His bike tool bag was always in use. Another one of his passions was family. Didn’t matter if it was his son, father, or “extended” family he was always there to lend a helping hand. He didn’t command respect, it was always given to him and in return he gave the same. Sig would love for his friends and family not to mourn his death but to celebrate his life and live as if today could be your last. He will be missed by all and will always be in our hearts and souls. “Peace, live in it or rest in it.” There will be a celebration of Sig’s life that will be held at Galloping Gerties bar and grill at 15417 Union Avenue SW Tillicum, WA. (253) 588-7131 on Sunday, April 23rd at 2:00pm. Donations can be made at the service. Arrangements by Edwards Memorial Center 253-566-1008
