Help Your Brothers & Sisters in Their Time of Need.

Here we will Post Information about our A.B.A.T.E. Brothers & Sisters,
In there special times of need.  We are a Brother & Sister Hood.

Helping each other in our Fight for Motorcycle Rights.

Someday Your Name or Mine, "Might be on this Page!"

Jason McCarter was involved in a motorcycle vs. auto collision.

After spending a short while in the hospital and getting a cast installed on his arm he is sore but doing better.
Jason is the State A.B.A.T.E. security Coordinator. Jason has done a terrific job providing security at state events such as the swap meets and Spring Opener. He is a member of the NO. Snohomish Chapter.
It is my understanding that Jason will be off of work for approximately 3 months.

Now is the time to come together in ABATE of WA and help Jason

The "other" insurance company has admitted fault but has denied any partial payment until the case
has been completely been settled. But he still needs to get his bills, paid rent, phone etc.

Please make a motion at your chapter meetings to pass the hat for Jason.

We will keep you informed of his condition as it rolls in!

Sad Departure and Notice of Theft

On Thursday October, 20, 2005, we lost a good friend.  Elizabeth “Betty” Latham lost her valiant  battle with cancer.  Betty was a friend to all she met and loved music, animals and nature.  She was an amazing artist doing custom leather garments, bags, Native American products, head wraps and motorcycle accessories.

According to her wishes, Betty will be cremated and her ashes will be spread in the wilderness to join the wolves, eagles and nature she loved so much.  I know many of you would have wanted to see her one more time.   Here is how I suggest you do that.  Next time you have a chance, find a piece of nature, a view of the mountains, a quiet stream, a tree in a nearby park.  Take a minute and enjoy the feeling, the calmness and the uplifting that nature brings.  Think of Betty smiling, laughing and soaring over  you as she is now part of nature.

There is no service planned.  Thank you all for being Betty's friends.

Notice of Theft

During the night of Wednesday October 19, 2005, thieves broke into the home of Elizabeth “Betty” Latham.  The items stolen were of specific value from an artistic, historic or resale perspective.  Because these items are so easily identifiable, we are aiding the police in finding the criminals who would steal from a dying cancer patient.  Please be on the lookout and call us if you see any of these items.

A bronze sculpture of 4 howling wolves, titled “Natural Harmony”
edition #92 by Mark Hopkins Gallery.

An antique mantel clock marked “New Haven” on the clock face.  (no photo)

Large quantities of custom leather garments and accessories made by Elizabeth. Many will be marked with “EAL” or “Elizabeth.”  It is likely that these will be marketed at Powwow's, motorcycle rally's, or mountain man events. Elizabeth’s work is very distinctive with fine work and detail.  Much of the detail is hand made and hand stitched.  The most recent work has included wood burning and colored designs.

Anyone having information on the whereabouts of any of these items or information on the thieves is asked to call 253-846-7378 or 253-863-1352.

Police have been involved and believe the thieves knew Elizabeth and had likely been in her home previously.

Please forward this information to as many people as you know who may have information on the theft or location of the stolen items or who knew Elizabeth.  With your help these ill-begotten items will be returned to the family and the heartless criminals will receive justice.

Thank you,  The family of Elizabeth Latham

On Tues. Nov 8th, 2005

Malone Schwartz laid his bike down near Bonney Lake.

He was apparently attempting to avoid a line of traffic that was stopped
as he came around a blind corner. Malone is a former member of Tacoma Chapter
of ABATE of WA and is a current member of the blues band "The Strokker Band"
He is currently recuperating in Good Sam's hospital in Puyallup.

No internal injuries, and no head injuries (a little bump from the helmet impact)
But he suffered a broken femur (in three places) broke both wrists,
and all the toes in one foot and some or all the toes in the other foot.
He'll be recovering from this for a long time.

Good News Malone, is now out of good Sam Hospital and in his home.

Malone is a good man, a very talented musician,
He rides year round, and is a personal friend of Dutch & Big Red.
He's done a great deal of work for ABATE & Motorcycle Rights in the past
We would ask that you all keep him in your prayers.
If anyone would like any More info regarding Malone,
Please feel free to call Big Red at 253-831-0555.

Thanks.   Colleen (Big Red)  Tacoma Chapter of ABATE
